Registration
 

Online registration is now open for the period from 1 May, 2011 to 31 July, 2011.
EARLY registration will be completed on 31 May, 2011.
REGULAR registration will close on 31 July, 2011.
ON-SITE registration at the Congress venue will start in the afternoon (14:00 - 18:00) of 16 August, 2011.
EARLY or REGULAR registration should be made by filling in the online registration form and making credit card payment.
ON-SITE registration should be in cash.
The online system uses secure encryption to protect the information of your credit card and personal details.
You must agree to the Cancellation Policy before proceeding to the online registration.
 
Note: The online registration system is shut down everyday at 03:30-07:00 (HK, GMT+8), and it will permanently close on 31 July, 2011 (GMT 23:59).

Registration Fee
Registration fee (Non-student/Student) include:
 
participation in 5-day Congress sessions (17-21 August, 2011)
one copy of the abstracts/programme book
one copy of the Congress proceedings CD-ROM
morning and afternoon refreshment breaks during the 5-day Congress
admission to the Congress Welcome Reception at the Hong Kong Convention Centre on 17 August, 2011 (Day 1 of the Congress)
admission to the Congress Banquet in the Grand Hall of the Hong Kong Convention Centre on 21 August, 2011 (Day 5 of the Congress).
All fees are in Hong Kong dollar.

Author Registration
The FIRST author of the paper accepted for the Regular/Special sessions MUST register for the Congress in the EARLY registration period (1-31 May, 2011).
Without registration, an accepted paper will not be included in the Congress proceedings.

Student Registration
Registration fee (50% off) for students is applicable to full-time undergraduates and postgraduates with valid proof for their student status.
A copy of the student ID card showing the name and the study period or a proof letter of the student status signed by the Head of Department should be attached to the online registration form. If this proof is not received, regular registration fee will be applied.

Accompanying Guests Registration
Registration for accompanying guests MUST be made by the attendees (Non-student/Student) and it is preferably made in advance of the Congress.
Purchase of guest ticket(s) and the full name(s) of the guest(s) should be indicated on the online registration form.
The Accompanying guest fee, which is fixed at HK$800 for adult or child, includes:
 
admission to the Congress Welcome Reception at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 17 August, 2011 (Day 1 of the Congress)
admission to the Congress Banquet in the Grand Hall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 21 August, 2011 (Day 5 of the Congress).
Guests will NOT be permitted to attend the Congress sessions.

Congress Welcome Reception - 17 August, 2011 (evening, Day 1 of the Congress)
A wine reception will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
It is free of charge for all registered attendees. Admission ticket is included with the registration.
Registered accompanying guest will be issued with a ticket.

Congress Banquet - 21 August, 2011 (evening, Day 5 of the Congress)
Congress Banquet will take place in the historical Grand Hall of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, where Prince Charles of UK and the last governor of Hong Kong, Chris Patten, handed Hong Kong back to China in the summer of 1997.
It is free of charge for all registered attendees. Admission ticket is included with the registration.
Registered accompanying guest will also be issued with a ticket.

Social Programme: Local Tour - 19 August, 2011 (afternoon to evening, Day 3 of the Congress)
A half-day local bus tour and buffet dinner cruise has been arranged by a travel agency in Hong Kong for sightseeing tour on the Hong Kong Island.
A tentative schedule is as follows:

The tour is an optional activity.
The fee for the tour is HKD500 per person, which is the same for the attendees (Non-student/Student) and accompanying guests (adults and children), covering the buffet dinner and service charge for the tour guide(s) and bus driver.
Purchase of tour ticket(s) and the full name(s) of guest(s) should be indicated on the online registration form.
The deadline for the local tour application is 15 July, 2011, and the application will end before the date if the quota (300) is full.

Congress Proceedings

A free copy of the Congress proceedings CD-ROM is included with the Non-student/Student registration.
Additional copies of the Congress proceedings CD-ROM will be sold at HKD100 per disc.
Printed hard copies of the Congress proceedings will be sold at HKD800 per set.
Purchase should be indicated on the online registration form.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be made in writing by mail or email to the Organizers of ICPhS-XVII-2011.

The amount of refund depends on the cancellation date, which is detailed as follows.
 
Cancellation date Refund amount
On or before 10 June, 2011 100% refund with a deduction of HK$300 administration fee
From 11 June, 2011 to 10 July, 2011 50% refund
After 10 July, 2011 No refund
A refund request from the FIRST authors is NOT accepted.
All refunds will be issued within 30 days after the Congress.

Visas and Letters of Invitation

Travellers may require a visa to Hong Kong. Please check the entry requirements at the website of the Immigration Department of Hong Kong: http://www.immd.gov.hk/ehtml/hkvisas_visit.htm.
Participants requiring a letter of invitation for visa or other applications should write or email to the Organizers of ICPhS-XVII-2011 including the following information:
 
name
postal and email addresses
confirmation number and title of paper if you have a paper accepted for the Congress.
Registration payment must be made before requesting an invitation letter.
 
Note: The invitation letter does NOT imply any financial support from the Congress.

Insurance

The Organizers of ICPhS-XVII-2011 do not hold any responsibility for individual medical, travel, or personal insurance.
Participants are advised to have their own travel insurance arrangements.

Hotel Reservations

Registration fee does not include accommodation.
We have reserved hotel rooms for the Congress. Please visit the Congress website for details and make your own booking individually.
